Shame you seem to have given this blog up Dave.
SLA, yeah there's a number of reasons... (1). It costs money to have a website whereas the blog is free. (2). You can obviously make money from websites if you sell something - I've got nothing to sell, whereas the blog I make money from the adverts if people click them. (3)There wasn't much traffic coming through the website either, the spin bowling community seems to be pretty small and wrist spin in pretty niche, so that was disappointing too. (4) In comparison to using the blog - editing it and changing it and posting stuff the website was just slow and clunky. On balance the idea of paying another £60 or whatever it was for 2 more years of it seemed daft, so when it's time is up it'll just disappear.
Hi Dave you could try Google adsense. It might cover your costs.
I hope you can keep something going, I enjoy your writings and I know the leggies in my club also follow your blog / website.
Billywhizz, I think I looked into that but for some reason it was real aggro setting it up and besides at the moment this website seems to have so few visitors I don't think it would be anywhere near as effective. When I set this up, I was being encouraged to do so by a woman who owns an Art website in NZ and she was saying that her viewings went from nothing to 100,000's within a year, which sounded good, but the wrist-spin community is small in comparison to the art community and she has the bonus that she sells stuff (Her art-work). What I might do is put all my efforts into one of the blogs again. I'm really pleased that you and other leggies read it, so that spurs me on! What kind of content do you like - what do they like to see?
Hi Dave, sorry about the delay in getting back.
I always like to hear whats going on with you and your legspin exploits in the blog. The others at my club say the same, though the youngest leggie likes all the technical bits aswell.
Why don't you turn comments on at the other place? I love some of your recent posts and have some comments on them
SLA - do mean the blogs?
Yeah I've been trying to sort it. It seems there's message options on most of my other blogs, but the main one, it seems to have been turned off and I can't seem to reactivate it. It looks as though the messages seem to have been transferred to the Google + thing which no-one uses. I'm still working on it, trying to figure it out, but not really getting anywhere. I did consider changing over to one of my other blogs and start using that as the main one, but so much work has gone into the MPA one it sort of seems a shame. I'll have to consider it though as it is the easier way to resolve the issue.
SLA I've been working on a solution and I've come up with this https://wristspinbowling.blogspot.co.uk/ I couldn't resolve the message issue, but this has definitely got the message facility. Have a look and leave a message please - so that I know it works? Also can you tell me whether it restricts the messages to people that have Google or Blogger or is it a free for all? At the moment very little content as it all needs to be transferred, but I'll do the batsman's analysis first/
